Conference:
First-generation Student Success Conference
Abstract
This presentation will overview the academic publishing process for first-generation and other emerging scholars, centering the Journal of First-generation Student Success (JFGSS). Participants will gain an understanding of the hidden curriculum and gatekeeping notions that sometimes exist in academic publishing and of the criteria for journals, and the JFGSS in particular. Participants will build cultural capital about avenues for advancing equity-minded first-generation scholarship and elevating the works of scholars who may have been historically excluded.
