Abstract
To create safer environments and drive cultural change, student affairs leaders can harmonize key strategies and lead strategic implementation in fraternities, sororities, and student organizations. Peer student affairs leaders, Piazza Center, and Deloitte Consulting’s Higher Education Practice believe we can enhance student safety, engagement, and intervention through research-backed strategies. Addressing these issues successfully requires the right mix of knowledge, action, and resources. This interactive presentation will share research-driven practices from New Directions for Student Services, Understanding and Addressing Hazing: Contextual Perspectives, Prevention Strategies, and Case Studies (2024) and the Hazing Prevention Network’s Institute. Participants will explore potential strategies to apply to their campus context. By implementing these strategies, we can engage the community, empower students, and effectively intervene to address hazing and hazardous drinking as solvable challenges in campus and public health.
