Abstract
In fall 2024, Utah Valley University introduced its new Leadership by Design minor, created to empower students seeking to catalyze positive change in their personal, academic, and professional lives. Taught by faculty in the Department of Student Leadership & Success Studies, an upper-division course option(SLSS 380R: Advanced Student Leadership Development) was recently created and taught for the first time this fall semester. The presenter will share highlights of creating a new course and explore the inception, development, and implementation phases. Through insights gained from the presenter’s experiences, the presenter will share valuable lessons learned, challenges overcome, and the impact of this innovative initiative on student leadership development.
