Abstract
In higher education administration, leadership’s transformative power lies in fostering inclusive and diverse environments. In the session, presenters will explore the intersections of leadership education with service-learning, intercultural development, and international education. Presenters will discuss how these interdisciplinary approaches enrich leadership education, address contemporary challenges, and foster transformative leadership skills. Rooted in a personal theory of leadership developed by deconstructing and reconstructing existing theories, the session will integrate personal experiences, cultural values, and lessons from guiding the President’s Leadership Council (PLC) at Oklahoma State University. Drawing from John Dugan’s framework, Kouzes and Posner’s focus on resilience and ethical decision-making, and Endo’s work on culturally responsive teaching, the presenter will demonstrate how these theories create inclusive environments. The session underscores the ongoing journey toward inclusivity, equity, and justice in leadership education through strategic social change, collaboration, mentorship, and culturally responsive practices.
