Abstract
Leadership educators often evade the role of trauma and its influence on a student’s college experience. In this session, we explore how leadership educators can more explicitly grapple with trauma and its role in leadership learning. Building upon the literature around trauma-informed practices in student affairs and higher education, we will discuss foregrounding trauma as being a central element of the context in which leadership is situated. Additionally, we will discuss how core developmental considerations of leadership learning can be leveraged to promote trauma-informed leadership education. Collectively, we will imagine possibilities for a future of trauma-informed leadership education.
