Abstract
The presenter will share an overview of the Center for Student Involvement’s annual Camp Bearcats first-year student Leadership Retreat at the University of Cincinnati. Additionally, they will share insights, best practices, and lessons learned from this three-day off-site retreat, facilitated by UC staff and student Peer Leaders, designed to integrate participants into the UC community. The presenter will discuss how the retreat fosters a strong sense of belonging and connection to the campus community and will highlight how Camp Bearcats helps students identify ways to contribute to an inclusive community and recognize both their own and others’ strengths and values as leaders. Through this holistic approach, the presenter will demonstrate how Camp Bearcats prepares students to become proactive, thoughtful leaders at the University of Cincinnati. This program will give attendees tangible tools to create similar programs at their home campus.
