Abstract
The session will explore how a small STEM university addressed the following challenges 1) lack of student engagement in leadership roles 2) inconsistent student leadership training, and 3) lack of opportunities to develop emotionally intelligent career readiness skills. The university developed a cohesive student affairs leadership program called ULEAD. Presenters will explain how the program was created by simplifying the student application process, increasing student engagement, and developing emotional intelligence in student leaders. Attendees will learn how to create a similar unified leadership program and the importance of focusing on an emotionally intelligent leadership curriculum to develop career-ready students.
