Abstract
With conversations looming around protests, identity politics, mental health, low enrollment, higher education’s ROI, etc., campus leaders are working tirelessly to address various issues. But at the root, what do all of these have in common? Identity. Each issue is a symptom of an ‘identity crisis.’
In this session, participants will examine identity development within leadership education and the impact of identity construction on higher education’s ‘identity crisis’. Examining their personal history, participants will learn its significance and impact on their identity construction. After obtaining their own ‘phD’ or Personal History Degree, participants will have the knowledge, tools, and resources to aid students in their cognitive reframing journey.
As higher education administrators search for remedies, students search for mental health providers, and health care providers search for medication, The Real Doctor Will See You Now session introduces leadership educators to the real diagnosis and the right prescription.
