Abstract
A COVID-19 related hiring freeze presented the Brown Student Activities Office a unique opportunity to restructure and redefine office culture. Since staff vacancies were unable to be filled immediately, department leaders paused and considered: What should our departmental structure look like? How can we implement hiring and retention practices which lead to a connected, values-based team? In this session presenters will share their strategies for building a team and participants will consider the ways they can reshape their own departments.
