Abstract
Why is love often narrowly defined in individualistic and depoliticized ways? This session challenges these constructs, examining how the everyday notion of love can perpetuate oppression and reinforce white supremacist ideologies. Using a Critical Theory of Love framework, the presenter will explore the role of love in social transformation and how it shapes social realities, desirability, and opportunities. Participants will reflect and interrogate their own social justice practices and how they foster empowerment and healing in our transformation work.
