Abstract
Mental health among Latine students is a critical concern for college campuses, particularly at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). Our nationwide analysis of Latine students revealed significant associations between depression and behavioral and psychosocial factors like alcohol use, trauma, and gender, despite half of our participants enrolled at HSIs. The presenters will discuss strategies for developing student-informed programs that effectively address demographic and behavioral health influences and enhance support for Latine students.
Learning Outcomes- Understand the correlations between mental health, gender, health behaviors, and psychosocial factors among Latine students at Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) and non-HSIs.
- Enable the audience to identify and evaluate programmatic gaps in campus-based behavioral and mental health prevention and intervention initiatives at Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) and non-HSIs
- Allow for critical discussions among audience members, academic administrators, and college health promotion officials regarding methods for designing, implementing, and evaluating tailored, culturally-informed, behavioral health programs.
- Student Learning, Development, and Success, Assessment and Evaluation
